Aliens have just landed. They have asked you to represent the Earth. Your job is simple: they demand the ONE bite of food that most typifies life on Earth. If they do not think you have chosen wisely, then the planet will be destroyed--no pressure. What SINGLE BITE of food do you think they should try?
To be honest coming from a foodie I would most likely recommend them to try out pizza, you can never go wrong with pizza and its deliciousness taste and flavor. I will make them try all kinds of pizza no matter what and to top it all off I will add a little extra I will put some type of animals inside the pizza. I don’t know what aliens like to eat so I’m assuming that they eat all sorts of dead things or dead animals I am just taking a wild guess because I am just going with what I see on television. Pizza for the most part is loved and wanted by millions around the world we have all types of them and if not we will make them their favorite. With this type of food all the earth links will be alive and would have nothing to worry about because once these aliens try out the pizza believe me when I say they’re going to want more and for the best part we get stay alive and live forever. Pizza is my favorite I will do anything in my power to keep the aliens satisfy with an all you can eat pizza buffet and I will try anything and everything to keep the earth safe and sound. Like I said before pizza will go a long way and it will be our savior. Pizza will be the food that will keep the earth and our humans safe from those estrange aliens.

DeleteThis is a hard one, considering that there is so many delicious food I would give an Alien to try in order to save the Earth. I think if I had to choose one single bite of food for an Alien to try it would be a bite of dessert, preferably a Milk and Berry cake from Porto's Bakery (one of the best tres leches cake I have ever tried). And I mean I have tried a lot of cakes and desserts but this one was one that I will never forget. It is the right amount of sweetness in one bite with the berries making it a little tarty which balances the sweetness of the moist that the cake has and the frosting which is not overly sweet but perfectly combined. I personally love tres leches cake, but I am also picky when it comes to moistness of the cake, some come out to be too soggy while this Porto's cake is the right amount of moistness. I think out of any food in the world a cake would be the right choice because who does not like a little sweetness in their life? For all I know dessert and sweets make life one wonderful experience when talking about food in general, especially good dessert. Cake is the right way to sweetened someone's heart and why not make an Alien who is trying to decided whether or not to destroy the Earth try it? I think with a single bite of the Milk and Berry I could save the Earth.

I do agree that the three-layered cake, is a good food for the aliens to take a bite out of. I thought about this in terms of the blue/green crust, the yellow/orange mantle, and the red core. In this case, it can be hard to pick the earthliest food. I had four choices, and I picked the avocado-pecan-bleu salad, since it contained the colors blue and green (blue for the bodies of water, and green for the continents). I then picked pizza, because a lot of people love pizza. My third choice was a cake to celebrate Earth Day. My fourth and final choice, was a cake representing the crust, the mantle, and the core. There are so many ways to be creative. You could choose the food according to Earth's colors, layers, or food popularity (according to the world population). Choices 1 and 2, were mostly based on health; whereas choices 3 and 4 were based on colors and layers. You could also think of Earth, air, fire, wind, and water.

ReplyDeleteLooking to my ethnic roots, my first thought was to give them a bite of cannoli. A cannoli is a dessert, and consists of a light Italian cream filling containing bits of chocolate chunks and pistachios in a crispy cylindrical shaped pastry. Since the existence of earth was at stake, not just any cannoli would do. It has to be a cannoli from Bommarito's Italian Bakery in Suburban Detroit.
I then considered cuisine from my Greek side, like baklava or spanakopita (spinach and feta cheese baked in a phyllo pastry), but ultimately I decided against both of those and the cannoli, too.
I decided to go with a food that is not only a piece of Americana, but a food that is familiar and recognizable in cultures all around the planet. Burgers? Hot Dogs? No. PIZZA!! Sure, easy choice, right? Yes, but it is also a logical one considering the aliens will be of higher intelligence, and will see the vast possibilities and options that can be done with the almighty pizza. The aliens could see this simple crust based dish as a basic template for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert being pizzas have evolved over time to not only be a meal option for just lunch or dinner.
The aliens will be enlightened on how the simple pizza has spread joy and been a part of merriment that has taken place across the planet. They will see how what once began as dough, sauce, pepperoni, and cheese, is now a dish that can have cheese sauce, bacon, and scrambled eggs to make it a breakfast pizza. They will envision a simple pizza dough topped with melted butter, sugar, cinnamon, and apple pieces to be a dessert pizza. With this great food and its many options they could, and would, be a new catalyst to spread the joys of pizza across not only the galaxy, but the universe, too!! All of earth will be safe and heralded as the bringer of life with food in the shape in the shape of a circle that is cut into triangles.
I have never had a taste of cannoli. After hearing you describe this type of dessert I now want to go out and try some, it sounds so yummy!

I would also recommend baklava, too. Bakalava is a mixture of crushed walnuts and/or pecans mixed with cinnamon, sugar, and butter, and then spread in between layers of phyllo pastry (very, very thin sheets of dough, and then once baked you pour a honey/orange/clover syrup over the top and let it soak/settle into the baked pastry as it cools. II think, I played it too safe with choosing Pizza. I was thinking that since it is known world wide is was a logical choice, as well as seeing the other options it could be converted into, but now I regret not going with the cannoli or baklava. :(
DeleteI had so much difficulty thinking of what one food to choose to represent life on Earth. Food is on my mind for a good portion of the day; I love to cook and try new restaurants,so I am always thinking about what I'll be making for dinner or what new restaurant sounds good for my next outing. That being said, I would have to choose some form of Mexican food, as it is my own personal favorite. Specifically the tacos at this little dive bar in Bakersfield called Vi's. I had the chance to try them recently, and cannot stop thinking about the next time I get to go back to have more! It was a very unexpected find, and I was a little skeptical because of the location, but my friend insisted that I give them a try. I was not one bit disappointed. I'm from San Diego, and consider myself well versed in Mexican cuisine because San Diego is filled with great Mexican restaurants. These tacos took it to another level for me. There are a few different kinds to choose from. I chose to enjoy a fish taco made with fresh salmon that is seasoned simply with salt and pepper, topped with a crunchy slaw and THE MOST delicious, creamy, garlic sauce I've ever had. The homemade corn tortillas were soft and fresh, which absolutely contributed to why these were the best tacos I've ever had in my life. The next taco I had was a pork al pastor taco, marinated in a chipotle sauce that added great depth of flavor and a smokey richness. The meat was so tender, it felt as though it was melting in my mouth. To top it off, this little taco from heaven was covered in a sweet pineapple mango salsa that added the perfect pop of flavor and acidity to break up the smokey richness from the pork. I think these tacos would not only be a great representation of life on Earth (who doesn't love taco Tuesday, after all?), but I think that the aliens might want to abduct the man who makes these tacos so they could have a bite of these yummy little creations as they travel to the next galaxy!

DeleteThis is a tough question, but I think I would let the aliens try out a hamburger. Hamburgers are well-known all over Earth. They are made in many restaurants and different styles. They can either try hamburgers with meat or chicken. One of my favorite hamburgers are from In-N-Out, so I would ask the alien to take a bite of an In-N-Out burger. They are one of the number one top hamburgers in many of the customers satisfaction surveys. The restaurants of In-N-Out are always busy, so that might mean that customers love the hamburgers! An In-N-Out includes two hamburger patties, two cheese, lettuce, tomato, with or without onions, and its amazing sauce. If the alien has different ingredients of his own, then it can include them in the hamburger. I do not think I would go wrong with hamburgers. They are delicious and super tasty! Most people love hamburgers, including myself! I think we will be safe and the planet would not be destroyed.
ReplyDeleteI have lived in various states, and tried the regional favorite, like Whataburger in Texas, and Culver's, Steak-n-Shake, and White Castle in the Midwest. I had heard of In-N-Out many times prior to moving to California, and made a mental note in case I ever went. Oddly enough, I ended up moving to California and In-N-Out was The very first place I went, and it was so good!! "Delicious and super tasty," sums it up well.

ReplyDeleteI would have to let the aliens try out some delicious tacos from Mexico. It is my personal favorite. The reason I think you cannot go wrong with that specific Mexican dish is because it has a little bit of everything. They have a variety of options of meat to choose from which is great. It is a food that you just can never go wrong. All that avocado, lime, tomato, onion, garlic, beans and chocolates and chilies to boot, is filled with good healthful things. So not only can it be healthy but it is like a fiesta in your mouth! Also, they would have to try tacos with a tortilla that is handmade which I know they will enjoy with its corn flavor and pillowy, steamy softness of a fresh, handmade tortilla off the comal is far better than storebought.

If aliens landed on Earth and asked me to represent Earth with a choice of food, I would definitely choose pizza. I chose pizza because who doesn't love it? For one, there's many different flavors to choose from with many different toppings. This includes cheese or pepperoni if you're picky or like basic foods, veggie pizza if you love vegetables, and BBQ or Hawaiian if you want a bold taste. You can also add parmesan cheese or peppers to give the slice a little more taste. I don't think the aliens would be let down if they tried a single bite of original pepperoni pizza. It would have to be from a place like Round Table or Me N Ed's though. I don't think Little Caesar's would do it justice. They would also have to dip the bite of pizza into ranch because I believe that is the best. I don't think the aliens will be let down after they try this because everyone gets excited for a pizza party. I feel that when someone knows there's going to be pizza at an event, they're automatically put into a better mood. Pizza is loved worldwide and when the aliens try it they will love Earth forever. After they try a single bite of pepperoni pizza, they will want to try all kinds of different toppings on their pizza. Aliens will not want to destroy our planet because when they think of Earth, they will think of pizza.

ReplyDeleteAfter going back and forth on what to feed these aliens who are threatening earth if they don't like our food, I've decided to feed them BURGERS!! But not just any burger, a delicious Double Double, animal style, with animal style fries, and a strawberry shake from In-N-Out. I have no idea what aliens like to eat, but I am almost sure they would not resist the mouthwatering flavor of a freshly made burger with two cheese slices, two beef patties, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, and "secret sauce". Oh but can not forget to ask for a side of peperoncinos! having a single bite of this tasty burger, not only will they be satisfied, but they probably want to ask In-N-Out for their recipe to make their own yummy burgers back home. Or even better, they might want to visit earth more often just to enjoy a scrumptious Double Double. I remember the first time I tried In-N-Out burgers! I am originally from Mexico, so when I was first introduced to these delicious burgers, I couldn't believe my palate! they're just the perfect size and flavor. I really don't care for other fast food burgers, but i am confident In-N-Out burgers would save earth!

DeleteOnce the aliens land and take a bite of Marie Calendars Razzleberry pie they aren't going anywhere soon. Razzleberry pie is one of my favorite pies because of how fresh and tart the flavor is. The fresh blend of raspberries and blackberries are for sure going to keep these extraterrestrials on planet earth for much longer than expected. Sometimes they may serve you the slice of pie piping hot and it's just as good when it's this hot. I like to enjoy a slice that's maybe even cold to luke warm. I do love other pies as well, apple, pumpkin and cherry but the razzleberry, hands down, takes the cake. So if you haven't tried a Marie Calendars razzleberry pie, i'm sorry and hope you can soon.

ReplyDeleteIf aliens were to land on earth and the fate rested on one bite, I would definitely have them try some tacos from Mexico. I love trying new food and seeing what different cultures eat, but honestly their is nothing better than biting into a taco of adobada (marinated pork) with a freshly handmade tortilla. Put some green salsa on it with a bit of onion and cilantro, I think the aliens would leave very peacefully having taken a bite of that. Tacos here are one thing, but going to Mexico and having freshly made are two completely different experiences in my opinion. When my friends say that theres some places here in town that have great tacos, I just tell them that they don't know what great tacos are until they've been to Mexico. So if the fate of the world came down to it, I would definitely take the aliens down to Ensenada, give them a plate of tacos, and have them eat them while relaxing on the beach.

ReplyDeleteIf there was any one food that I had to present to aliens who threaten to blow up the Earth if they do not like it, then it would have to be a sandwich. The sandwich is one of the most perfect types of meals, since it composes of a lot of different types of food into something compact. However, there are many types of sandwiches on Earth, and certainly, I would have to choose the best one. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and I would have to invoke the calling of a sandwich from one of the most well-known franchises across the world. For me, it would have to be the McChicken, the best fast food sandwich. This may be a bold claim, and I expect for there to be quite a lot of opposition. Would it be better if I gave the aliens the Tendercrisp from Burger King? No, because nothing could top the crispy chicken stuck between two toasted buns with the special mayonnaise sauce that's exclusive to McDonald's. Though, perhaps if I were more daring, I would ask for the employees to bask some of the Big Mac sauce in it as well. I believe giving aliens fast food is a high-risk move, since it's often perceived that the quality of such food is not good. However, when prepared fresh and not simply microwaved, I think fast food is not bad as most would claim.

DeleteIf aliens landed and could only take one bite of one food I would feel so sorry for them. What makes earth so great is all the variety we have. Especially right here in Bakersfield Pad Thai from The Noodle Bar, chocolate cake from Jake's, or the warm, freshly, baked bread from Frugatti's just to name a few. The list could go on for miles but if I had to truly only pick one thing it would have to be a burger from Happy Jacks in downtown Bakersfield. Not only is it the best burger I've ever had its the experience too. You walk up and it almost looks like a small cabin from the outside. Inside and the only seating is a wrapped around bar. The staff is always friendly and the food is always fresh. What makes this burger so good is the fact it come to you hot, juicy, and you know it was made with love. They add fresh ground pepper to the patty while it is cooking. I think that's what gives it the extra zing. They also use a special sauce that, I would even dare to say, is better than in-n-out. I think the aliens would appreciate the fact everything is family owned and operated. I think that is what makes it best of all.

DeleteI love your idea about noodles. I would also suggest some Pad See Ew from Jasmine's New Taste downtown Bakersfield. The Restaurant is sort of new, they have excellent service and amazing dishes. The Pad See Ew is my favorite stir fried noodles dish served with egg and broccoli. It would great along with a thai tea with boba. I think it would be an excellent dish to save our world.
If aliens landed on earth and demanded me to represent the earth by giving them a bit of food that most typifies life on earth it would have to be tacos. You cannot go wrong with tacos, I mean they taste amazing, especially with all the yummy stuff on it. I would have them take a bite of a carnes asada taco topped with cabbage, cilantro, onions, and salsa with a side of lemon. After having a bite of a delicious carne asada taco who would even want to destroy earth. I mean there are other good foods but tacos beat all the other foods. I sure that the aliens would want more to eat and I’d have a variety of meats for them to pick from which I’m sure they would enjoy. Having a choice of meat and being able to choose from them is the best because if they wanted too they could try them all. I bet they wouldn’t want to leave after this or maybe they’d take a taco truck and cook with them. I mean it is better than them destroying the earth. Tacos are a wonder food to enjoy eating and is easy to prep.

DeleteIf aliens landed on Earth and asked me to represent it with a choice of food, I would definitely go for some pizza. One can never go wrong with pizza, especially when it is a matter of life and death. Pizza just happens to be a very popular food everywhere in the world and I don't think I have ever met someone who doesn't love pizza. Having the pressure of knowing the planet might be destroyed if they dislike the food, of course I'm going to share one of the most delicious foods I have ever tried. Who doesn't enjoy some stuffed-crust pizza, topped with pepperoni and sausage accompanied by some potato wedges. I might just take the aliens on a trip to Pizza Rev, where they will get to choose exactly what they want on their pizza, they will get to try all types of pizza combinations and I'm sure it will make their experience even more satisfying. That is the great thing about pizza, you can add whatever you want to it, some people even like pineapple on their pizza as strange as it may sound! A fun fact about pizza in my personal opinion is that whenever I think of aliens, I automatically think of pizza; this is because pizza planet from the movie "Toy Story" comes to my mind. With that said, I think pizza would be the best representation of the delicious food earth has to offer. I personally LOVE pizza, it makes me happy to eat pizza especially when I'm stressed out. If my attempt to satisfy aliens with pizza succeeds I might just take them to my favorite ice cream place, Cold Stone and I will have have them try the delicious "coffee lover" signature ice cream (my personal favorite) that I'm sure will make them fall in love with earth and all of its tasty food.

Upon reading the topic of this week, there were a lot of things that came into my mind but one thing that stick out was lasagna. I believe that Aliens will like and love this rich delicious, savory food. It is pampered with vitamins and goodness fat. Cooking lasagna is very long process, but it is a very delicious, succulent food. The lasagna noodles is just amazing, top it off with garlic, onions, ground beef, and loads of cheese, will make the aliens love this food. I am sure that they will not destroy the earth. The layer of crazy goodness will make them want some more. The marinara sauce that oozing out of the layer will make the Aliens tastes buds jump up and down.

ReplyDeleteIf I had to save the planet with only one type of food it would be steak. I have tried all sorts of food but steak is something that I don't eat very often unless if I go to a restaurant to try it. I was impressed with a restaurant named Harris in San Francisco. They had all types of steaks that I couldn't choose from. Although it was pricey that's the best steak I have ever had in my life. Ever since then I been wanting to go back to just try that steak again. That's why I would go with steak. The aliens would have a different variety of steaks to choose from: T-bone steak, Filet Mignon, Top Sirloin, Flank Steak, Rib-eye steak, Strip steak Flat iron steak and so on. They can also try the different ways they are cooked: blue rare, rare, medium rare, medium, medium well or well done. The steak would have to be from Harris steak because there steak is so juicy that there wont be another steak from another restaurant that can compete in my opinion.

Considering that I am such a food lover, choosing what single type of food to give to aliens is such a hard decision. The first thing I would do is inform the aliens we will be going on a ride towards downtown, Bakersfield. I would regret not taking the aliens to Bento sushi restaurant. The one bite that I would have the aliens try would be a bite of the oaks roll. The oaks roll is my favorite. The oaks roll is made out of shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, and avocado. The roll is deep-fried. The top carries a mild spicy sauce that adds a delicious kick to the roll. Since the aliens will fall in love with sushi and would be dying to try more, I would also have them try the miso soup. The miso soup is made out of tofu and green unions. Aside, they can also try some delicious garlic. edamane soybeans. I am very confident that thee aliens will reconsider destroying the world after they eat sushi from Bentos.

DeleteThis was a difficult question to answer because there are endless variety of foods from over hundreds of different cultures that are delicious and it would be unjust to single out one food that typifies life on Earth. Personally, I would present a single bite of rice to the aliens because that is what I eat every day. Rice can be found in many cultures and prepared in many appetizing ways. It also comes in all sizes and shapes and typically goes well with any type of sauces or seasonings. Its soft texture makes it easy to chew and swallow. The rice I present to the aliens would be plain white rice. It is going to be tasteless. Then I would present a variety of sauces and seasonings for the aliens to choose to add to the rice so they can adjust the flavors to their own likings. I believe rice is a safe choice. Worst case scenario, the aliens would think rice is too plain, therefore the Earth is too plain, and will decide to leave us alone because we are not displaying any alarming dietary habits, indicating that we are plain and harmless human beings. Hopefully the aliens would move on to destroy other planets.

To save the Earth, I would play it safe and pick something that is popular in taste. I was debating between ice-cream, chips, soup, and croissants, and I ended up choosing chips because who doesn't love chips as a snack?

If it weren't chips, I think I would choose croissants because they could be sweet with jam or savory too.

Delete“What food would I choose to save mankind?”, has to be a tough question for sure. With so many different kinds of foods from different cultures, made daily on earth, I wouldn't want to choose the wrong one. But, then again what would be the right one? A representation of earth is that it is very diverse. Growing up in a Hispanic household we mainly ate Mexican food. One could argue that made by the right person the food can be delicious. If the alien were to find me at my parents house, we would definitely choose to give the alien a Tamale. One single bite of the Tamale would leave the alien asking for more. Without a doubt, the alien would ask for seconds. My parents have been making tamales for more than 20 years now. Anyone who has tried one of the tamales my parents have made, compliments them on how delicious the flavor is and how full the tamale is of meat. Depending on which one of the different tamale “flavors” my parents would make; Green salsa: pork, beef or chicken. Red salsa: pork, beef or chicken. For people who want no meat, they have a tamale with cheese, tomatoes and jalapenos in them. I would recommend a chicken tamale, whatever salsa tamale they would chose though, they would not be disappointed. I am very confident that the world would be saved thanks to my parents. Ha! My parents tamales are literally out of this world, there that amazing.

There are many flavors of cheese steak, like original, chili pepper, pepperoni, western, bacon, mushroom, barbecue, and pizza as well as many more, I'm sure even the pickiest of aliens would enjoy one of these flavors of cheese steak, and if they didn't I sure would. If the aliens decide to blow up the planet that's fine, I'd rather not live in a world where you can't get eat cheese steaks.

The closest I've found was at Jersey Mikes but they don't serve steak fries there. I'm originally from up north in the Bay Area and I grew up eating Philly cheese steaks and how I miss them.
DeleteIf I had to give the alien one bite of something that encompasses what Earth is, I'm not even sure where I'd begin. I don't necessarily have a "favorite" food; I love foods from different countries because of how unique they are. After thinking back to variety of foods I've tasted from spicy baked tuna to a Macaroni and cheese Cheeseburger, I would give the alien the Chicken Tortelloni from Frugattis. This is one of my go-to meals for a variety of reasons; it is so creamy with each bite tasting better than the last. The tortelloni is filled with chicken, prosciutto and parmesan cheese. Each tortelloni is covered with their amazing alfredo sauce topped with parsley. I am confident that if an alien tasted this, he would be as hooked to this dish as I am.

DeleteThere is so much pressure deciding one bite of one dish to save the planet, especially when there is so much goodness and so much I have yet to try. I’m not sure where to even begin. Some of my personal favorites include In N Out cheeseburgers, my father’s tri-tip, New York pizza, wings, and fried pickles. However, if I must choose one thing it would have to be pastrami pizza from Slice of Italy in town. Pizza is one thing that is pretty universal and known all over the world for being delicious. While there are many variations in styles and toppings, it’s all tasty. I feel though that this pastrami pizza is an excellent combination of two classic foods, the pastrami sandwich and pizza. This pizza is topped with tomato sauce, cheese, thinly sliced pastrami, some pepperoni, pepperoncinis, a few pickles, light mustard, sliced onions and olives. Dipped in ranch this pizza is basically perfection. I have faith that if the aliens tried this Earth would be saved and they would return for more!

DeleteI can’t believe I forgot all about tri-tip! That is a great choice because it is so delicious and juicy. When I have tri-tip, I love to go to Coconut Joe’s because they have the best tri-tip in town.
I believe the one food that most typifies life on Earth and that I would give aliens to eat is pizza. One can never go wrong with pizza! Besides it being reasonable in price (depending on the place it is purchased), it is also delicious, and there are so many toppings that can be chosen from. Of coarse, I imagine myself serving them toppings such as worms or animal eyeballs and intestines. This is because I imagine these aliens like those in the "Men In Black" movies. Pizza is also a comfort food, so that would maybe ease our tension and my fright. Hopefully I make the correct choice!

DeleteThis is difficult because there are so many amazing different cultures and delicious cuisines around the world. So its definitely not easy to make a decision on one food representing the whole world. It took me a while to write a response to this because I wanted to choose the best representation for a first time food experience for the Aliens visiting Earth. As I thought about all the many variations of food there are, there was one particular food that kept resurfacing; pizza. This food can be made up in so many different ways whether it be breakfast or dessert. I feel that pizza is popular almost all over the world or at least have tried it. You simply cannot go wrong with pizza. You can have pizza with just cheese or you can pile on layers of veggies and meat. Pizza can meet the many different demands of food lifestyles such as vegetarian, vegan, or even paleo. The place I would take them to would probably be Pieology because it is inexpensive and you can add as many toppings as you could want. On the pizza I would give to the aliens I would add bacon, spicy chicken, pepperoni and sausage on top of the mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce. I would also add banana peppers, jalapeños, artichokes and cilantro. (More is better when it comes to pizza) I think the aliens would be so pleased with their first bite they would forget about even destroying planet Earth.

DeleteI would feed that alien some homemade mac n' cheese. After one bite he wouldn't be able to stop. The creamy cheese and crunchy breaded top would keep luring his spoon down for another scoop...and another...and another. He would look at me out of the corner of his eye, not wanting to look away from the mac and say in a mesmerized tone, "They told me this planet had nearly depleted all of their valuable resources. Told me it would be best to obliterate this planet so King Galactica had somewhere to park his summer ship in orbit. No one dared to tell me of this 'Mac and Cheese'. This is the most valuable resource I have seen in all the galaxy." I'm not surprised by his response. After he is nearly half way done eating the dish I ask him, "So we're good? You're not going to blow up the earth or anything?"
ReplyDeleteIt's too late. He's lost in the mac. He completely ignores my question. Somehow he found another spoon. So now he has a spoon in each hand, moving them in a sort of circular motion. It's like he's doing the hustle with spoons while shoveling that mac into his mouth, all one continuous motion. He starts to make strange cry/ laughing noises in between each bite. The look in his eye is that of someone slowly slipping into madness. It's making me uncomfortable.
I awkwardly stroke my hair with my fingers and say, "Yeah, it's some good stuff right?"
He swallows the last bite, throws both spoons on the floor, and puts his hands in a very Shia Labeoufesk position and lets out a loud scream, "Yeeeaaahhhh!"
I try one more time, "So we're good with the whole not blowing up the earth thing?"
He's trying to catch his breath, he grabs me by the shoulders and says, "Yeah, we're good."
He gets in his ship and leaves.
This is a very entertaining post. I think I'd probably give them mac and cheese too, my mom makes some good homemade!

DeleteAs I've thought very hard about this topic I have come to choose a Tacos la Villa carne asada burrito. It is a basic choice but I feel like it will always satisfy my hunger and the flavors are so good! I think it would be really different from what aliens eat and they would want to stay on Earth just for the burritos, yum! If I was to give them something homemade it would be my dad's tri tip.. if aliens even eat cows? But his tri tip is juicy and flavorful without any kind of sauce which is why I think they would let us live and maybe even stay just for his tri tip!

Delete- From all the blog entries I have read, I am realizing my approach is extremely pessimistic. I am not sure if I am misunderstanding the question, but if I had to choose a food to represent life on Earth in order to save it, I would be very sincere with these aliens and give them a bite or spoonful of any canned food. Canned food would, in my opinion, represent how life on Earth is for all beings and nature. I chose canned food because they contain bisphenol A, a chemical that is found in canned foods. This chemical comes in plastic, so it is attached to the inner coating of a canned food. In deciding this food I thought of what is harming our environment and our lives; it came down to plastic. Plastic affects us entirely without us being fully aware. Although canned foods are not the best, I want to be genuine with my decision and present the aliens a true reflection of life on Earth.

I think a canned food would most represent earth as well when you put it this way, especially when there is a lot of pollution all around us and plastic floating in our oceans. While its not a bite of a plastic bag, it sure comes close enough, while edible.

If I had to choose one food to represent the Earth it would most likely be from a plant. I believe the food from a plant would be a good representation since it reflects life on Earth in the most efficient way possible. Since plants have a unique way of producing and reproducing, the product of such an amazing life form would be admired by the aliens. Once the alien tries a fruit for the first time only then will they know the beauty that this planet offers. The moment their lips, if they have any, taste the juices from what was produced by the tree will they understand the importance and beauty of life. Since such a delicious treat did not come so simple the aliens can further understand the concept of life and energy. The cool thing that aliens could understand about plants is the different varieties of plants that there are. They can see that this planet has so many different forms of life and that a single fruit has its own importance. Different fruits have a variety of mechanisms by which they can stay alive and they come in different shapes and sizes. Once the aliens learn about how life is formed and why energy is recycled and reused then maybe they will learn to accept us. But on the other hand, they can realize how bad we are destroying the earth and decide that we are a huge problem to the beautiful planet and decide to destroy us.

ReplyDeleteWhen I first read this question, I had such a hard time deciding what I would choose to recommend to the aliens that have just landed on Earth. There is so much diverse food here on Earth and everyone has their different tastes. After careful consideration, I decided on some simple homemade tacos (made by my mom, of course). It doesn’t even matter what kind of meat would be in them. My mom makes some delicious, warm, soft tortillas and she cooks the meat until super tender. They are honestly the best tacos I have ever had in my life. When assembling your taco, you can top them with whatever you like: onions, cilantro, salsa, lime, salt, radishes, etc. This just makes them even more delicious! I chose tacos because they are what I grew up with and what I am used to. It is a part of my life here on Earth.
ReplyDeleteIf all that were not possible, I would also recommend Chepe’s Restaurant here in Arvin. I tried their tacos recently and they are second on my “Best Tacos” list. Their tortilla is also homemade and the meat is seasoned so well that it just pops in your mouth. The salsa is super spicy but a little of it completes the taco. It’s like a party in your mouth.
Reading all my classmates’ posts, I see many people like tacos. I would think the aliens would love them also and our planet Earth would be safe! Who knows, they may even want to stay lol.

DeleteI most share that I had fun imagining myself in this situation, Aliens just landed and asked me for something delicious or they would destroy my planet, what should I offer? Well, since I love beans, I’m going to make some enfrijoladas for the Aliens, besides of delicious, enfrijoladas are cheap and easy to prepare, I’m going to make a lot of them so the Alien’s hungry will be satisfied. Enfrijoladas are a traditional Mexican food because corn (maiz), and beans (frijoles) had been cultivated in Mexico since the Aztecs times. The corn tortillas are fried until they get a little crunchy, then they are dipped in pureed fried beans, this step must be done fast enough so the tortillas won’t lose the crunchiness (or at least that’s the way I like them). For the enfrijoladas topping, fresh cheese and sour cream, sliced onions and lettuce, and salsa are added depending on preferences. I hope the Aliens enjoy the enfrijoladas and leave our planet along

DeleteIt's almost not fair to talk about "Mexican" food. There are so many Mexican foods--Michoacan is different from Oaxaca is different from DF...que viva Mexico!
Que viva!! Enfrijoladas are deliciosas, they are like enchiladas but with beans instead of the salsa. In other parts of Mexico, we make them with mole, they are "enmoladas". It could be mole green or the more traditional red, they are prepared about the same, and the ingredients may vary a little from place to place, but still the same great Mexican taste.
DeleteSo, while I contemplated what food on earth would represent the world, many foods came to mind. While ignoring that aliens have indeed come to earth, and the existence of my loved ones are in peril, did not impair my judgement. Many foods that highlight certain parts of the worlds would surely be delicious, but there’s only one that comes to mind. A hamburger would be my number one choice. It reminds me of America and America is a truly diverse place. But no ordinary burger, and while many would say in and out, I’ve grown to love a hamburger from five guys; A truly customizable burger. Beef would not be good enough for our extraterrestrial friends, I would ask for a bison patty. Since bison is much more lean than regular beef, they would experience our naturally fatty foods but somewhat healthier. A nice piece of crunchy lettuce, sliced roma tomatoes, a piece of cheese, with a nice hot patty in the center of a bun with a tiny amount of A1 sauce, because everyone loves A1 sauce! Then Once they’ve had their bite of my burger, I would ask for a bite as well, because I knew I probably messed this up somehow and it would be my last meal.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say a warm French role. Bread is one food that gets overlooked in our American culture, although we consume so much of it. Almost anywhere you go in the world today, you will find bread of some sort, despite the different cultures. There may be differences in the recipe, but good bread is good bread. For many cultures, it may even be a main staple. Just today I had the great opportunity to try a roll from Roadhouse, and I was utterly blown away. After three rolls and a case of the buyer’s remorse, I could not even eat my main dish. This is where I would send those aliens, although they may still destroy the planet after seeing all the peanut shells all over the restaurant floor. Assuming that the aliens have converted their form of currency to the dollar, they would find that bread is reasonably priced and may reconsider destroying the planet, realizing the great bargain they received. Another benefit to bread is that if the aliens eat enough of it, they may gain excess abdominal fat, develop diabetes, and have a reduced lifespan, thus leading to the conquest of their home planet by humans.

ReplyDeleteWeighing my options was much more difficult than I would have ever imagined it should be for this topic. Considering many factors, I would have to say the one bite of food I would provide to and alien would have to be a fruit cobbler with a bit of vanilla ice cream on top. The combination of flavors mixed with the warm comfort feeling of sweet and savory gooeyness would leave any person or thing wanting more. I could just imagine the alien sinking his moth into a peach or apple cobbler and melting with delight. Maybe it's because I do not allow myself to ever splurge on junk foods like a cobbler or just that it is that good, but I personally think I feel a little bit happier after having such a treat. Who would want to destroy a plant where you could get a desert like a piece of cooler with vanilla ice cream any ways? I personally believe that as long as the alien is happy and full her will not take any further action on the only planet he could ever order that desert from.

DeleteIf I had to choose one food that I knew would represent life on earth it would be a double double animal style cheeseburger from In-n-Out. In my opinion it is the best choice of cheeseburger anyone can ever eat. Not only is it cheap in price but the quality in taste is very delicious. This Double double animal style cheeseburger would typify life on earth for every alien and human alive. The doubled patties with cheese and grilled onions deliver an amazing taste. The juicy pickles and tomatoes will soak in making the cheeseburger taste magical. The thousand island sauce adds the sparkle of what makes this cheeseburger has compared to other regular cheeseburgers.

I would even think of making a wonder ball with a Ravenclaw/Slytherin crust (to represent green land and blue bodies of water), a Hufflepuff mantle (to represent the yellow color), and a Gryffindor core (to represent the red color). DeleteTake a seat Mr. Schmolls, I'm about to save the entire human race from annihilation. This was not hard at all, the key to saving the world is inside of a jumbo popcorn bowl filled to brim with Takis: Fuego (Hot Chili Pepper & Lemon) and Trolli Gummy Squiggles, the plain ones of course. The human palette is nothing short of extraordinary, however, not acknowledging the essential role that sense of smell dictates our food experience would be unwitting. Vanilla has no taste at all. It's a smell, and the pleasant sensation is coming not from your mouth but from the nose, through the passage way between the back of the mouth and the back of the nose. The smells emitted from the chili spice and lemon citrus essence evokes the passion humans have for food. The Gummy worms provide one with a sweet, sugary, and salty which symbolize the mystery in life that promotes the celebration of our differences as individuals. The vibrant colors of the food will provide the visual aesthetics we relish in seeing. Genius! We may all sleep in peace knowing we have the answer to at least this problem. Thank you base god.

DeleteIf aliens had just landed on Earth and they demanded one bite of food that most typifies life on Earth I would give them pizza. I think pizza is an obvious choice, it is made all over the world and in many different ways. There are also many types of toppings, everything from chile verde to hot Cheetos to regular pepperoni or just plain cheese. This would be a wise choice to offer to aliens because it is easy to customize to everyone’s likings, anything on top of dough shaped like pizza is considered pizza. I personally love pizza, Rusty’s is my favorite I think it’s the cheese that is a difference. I think the aliens should be offered a supreme pizza with a side of ranch, that would be perfect. Another great way to offer the aliens pizza is to have bunch of different types of combinations made and offer them anything we could. Pizza is enjoyed by many people around the world and I am sure that pizza would save this planet from alien distruction.

DeleteIf aliens have just landed on Earth and are demanding one bite of food that represents life on earth I would without a doubt give them sushi. Sushi rolls and regular sushi come in the widest varieties. Seafood comes in many forms within tradition as a part of sushi. Our oceans cover a large portion of the world so what better describe the world then food that comes form the ocean itself. A place in Palmdale called Big Tuna has some of the best sushi around. Presenting sushi to the aliens would be the best idea. There is no chance that it would result in destroying the world. So many people I know are fans of sushi and in particular from this restaurant. I have never been to a sushi place like this, that a person didn't enjoy the sushi. The types of seafood that are present in sushi has a such a wide range. Rolls come with some avocado, and different flavored mayo that really grabs a persons taste buds. Our lives would be completely safe at the presence of sushi.

DeleteThis question was difficult to answer because there are so many good foods to choose from that it is hard to choose just one. The first two foods that came to my mind were tacos and pan dulce (sweet bread). After a while of going back and forth I decided that I would give the aliens sweet bread. As much as I like tacos I am more of a sweets person so pan dulce was my choice, you can never go wrong with sweets. There are so many different kinds of pan dulce out there they can try I’m sure they won’t be disappointed with their choice of bread. The bread that I would recommend the aliens to try are the conchas, those are my favorite to eat especially when they are nice and warm. I’m sure that after trying pan dulce the aliens would have no intention of destroying the planet anymore.

DeleteI think the earthliest food the aliens should bite into, is the avocado-pecan-bleu salad. This is because the salad is healthy, and it contains Earth’s two colors (green, which is in the salad leaves; and blue, which represents the blue cheese). The salad leaves remind me of Earth’s landmass, and the blue cheese reminds me of Earth’s bodies of water. My second choice would be pizza, since everyone loves pizza; and that pizza contains a lot of good vegetables. My third choice would be an Earth Day ice-cream cake, since it contains a picture of the earth. My fourth and final choice would be a three-layer cake, which consists of the following: a blue/green colored crust, an orange mantle, and a red core. Overall, choices 1, 3, and 4 represent Earth’s colors, and choice 2 is based on a universal opinion of everyone loving pizza. I would like to conclude, that the avocado-pecan-bleu salad tops the charts, since it is healthy; and it symbolizes Earth’s colors. In this case, the planet will not be destroyed.

DeleteThere are so many types of foods, and snacks that came to mind. There's so much diverse food in the world, how could a person pick one to represent the planet, it was difficult but I decided to pick an Elote (Mexican corn on a cob), just thinking about one makes me want to go and find an elote man. On these elites you are able to add either chili powder, butter, cheese, lemon juice or lime juice, and mayo. If you have never had an elote, I highly recommend it. I also selected an elote because they remind me of summer, which is my favorite season. Hopefully the aliens are pleased and decide to spare our lives!

DeleteThis has taken me a while to think about. I think if I had to give the aliens one bite of any food it would be steak. I was going to say chicken, but I think steak is probably more popular in general. Steaks are nice and juicy (if they are cooked right) and if the aliens got a fat and juicy piece of steak, I would think they would be pretty satisfied. I know I would be. I think steak is pretty universal too. We may not all prepare steak the same, but that is what makes it universal. People make it in their own unique ways so that they can enjoy it. You can also put BBQ sauce on it or a whole bunch of different seasonings and it would be even better. I would definitely choose steak to give to the aliens in hopes of saving earth.

ReplyDeleteOh no! This is a difficult decision because there are many types of delicious foods I could recommend aliens to try, here on Earth. My choice would be hamburgers because I believe that hamburgers are famous all around Earth and it would be a good decision to represent life on Earth. If they were to demand one bite of the food that represents Earth I would have them try a hamburger and not just a regular hamburger, it would be a #1 (double-double) from In-N-Out. I would make sure they eat their hamburger as soon as it is given to them because I believe they don’t taste as great when they are cold. Also, I believe they need to get the combo because a double double isn’t a double double without fries and coke. These hamburgers are the best hamburgers on Earth and aliens will be able to notice as soon as they see how many customers are waiting for their double-doubles. They will love the fact that they are so juicy and tasty. I love that they have two patties, cheese, union, tomatoes, lettuce, and two buns. I wouldn’t add anything else to it because it is perfect as is. They will drool just by seeing the hamburger, just like Plankton from SpongeBob Square Pants, when he sees the Crabby Patty. I believe my choice will definitely save the planet because Double-Doubles are delicious; they might even want the secret recipe to make their own. I don’t think it was a good idea to talk about food because now I’m craving a double double. ☺
I love In n Out! I feel like you can never go wrong with it. It is inexpensive and delicious. I've personally never had a double-double, but I've heard they're amazing.
DeleteI am an avid pizza eater, so naturally my first choice would be that. However, considering many people already chose pizza, I’m going to go out on a limb and choose In n Out animal style fries. This is my guilty pleasure. I don’t get it often because I don’t want to die in my twenties from clogged arteries. But when I do get it, I never regret it. The fries are cooked to perfection, topped with gooey cheese, chopped grilled onions, and flavorful In n Out sauce. It has such a unique taste, which is probably why it is so popular. I don’t know that it typifies life on Earth, but is definitely a good representation of America. It is fattening, greasy, and oh so delicious. The beauty of In n Out is in its simplicity. There aren’t many options (not counting the secret menu), but that is because they have perfected everything on the menu. Of course, you can never go wrong with a burger, but animal style fries are so unique that you have to try them at least once.

DeleteI do not think I have tried enough food to save the earth. All the foods I have ever eaten flashed before my eyes and I realized I have not eaten enough divers foods and the planet is doomed. So if aliens came down and needed one bite of food that typifies life on earth I would choose something like corn, rice, or potatoes because those are staple foods. Pizza, burgers and french fries are some of my favorite foods mainly because bread is one of the best foods ever. So with all of that being said I would choose a burger, something I know is delicious.

DeleteI do agree that meats are good foods for the aliens, because they are lively foods which everyone loves. The cooked meats are tasty with partially sweet, salty, and sour flavors. Vegetables are also good in this case, since they contain a lot of nutrition, sweetness, and color. The red, yellow, and green colors of the fruits and vegetables remind me of the following: Earth’s green continental crust, Earth’s orange/yellow mantle, and Earth’s red core. In my post, I wrote that the following foods are alien/earth-friendly: avocado-pecan-bleu salads, pizza, an ice-cream cake which is used to celebrate Earth Day, and a three-layered cake (representing the crust, the mantle, and the core). I think a fruit salad would work as well. I think it all depends on being creative and innovative. This is one of my opinions. This is for all of you.
ReplyDeleteIf aliens just landed in Bakersfield and I had to represent the Earth by offering them a symbolic food I would have a pretty tough decision. There are so many types of food that represent so many different cultures and ways of life all around the world. The one food that I think would be a suitable example of Earth would have to be a cheeseburger. They should try a bite of a cheeseburger because of how widely known and demanded they are. Cheeseburgers are customizable and easy to make and that’s what people look for in everyday life. After one bite into a cheeseburger, the aliens would not be able to resist the urge to finish the whole things. The aliens will learn that we love greasy savory foods. Any cheeseburger will be fit for them to eat but if I had to choose it would be a double double from In-N-Out. The line and drive through are always so long no matter what time it is so they have to be the best. The lettuce and tomato perfectly balance out the grilled onions and cheesy patties. Finally, the spread puts the perfect finish making the whole burger irresistible. After they ate it I wouldn’t even be nervous to hear their impression of it because I know they would love it. The aliens probably wouldn’t want to leave without bringing an In-N-Out with them back home. Overall, I know Earth would be safe after the aliens try a cheeseburger but sadly they would probably come back to try more food.

DeleteThere are so many delicious foods on Earth that it is so hard to choose just one. I am a person who likes a lot of different foods, so they might be just like me. I have been going back and forth trying to pick between hamburgers and pizza when it hit me, cheesecake! I know it is a dessert item, but its something the aliens definitely have to try. But not just any kind of cheesecake, it has to be from the Cheesecake Factory. The cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory is to die for! My dad thinks differently because he thinks it’s overpriced; I am not going to lie, it is a bit pricey being at $9.00 per slice, but its worth it. They have a wide variety of different types of cheesecakes to choose from, but I really love the Oreo Dream Extreme Cheesecake and Dulce de Leche. The Oreo one consists of Oreo cookies that are baked into the cheese that has layers of fudge cake and cookie mousse that is topped with a milk chocolate. I like more the Oreo one, so I will just talk about that one. Just writing the description makes me wish I had one right now. The fact that they have so many cheesecakes to choose from that they can choose any other flavor they like even if it isn’t the Oreo Dream Extreme Cheesecake or Dulce de Leche. There are so many different food items that my classmates wrote, but I know that they would like the cheesecake.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose one food item that completely encompasses life, I would definitely direct the aliens to a taco truck so they could enjoy a carne asada super burrito. One, the name itself speaks wonders, "super". I have also never met anyone that does not enjoy a really great burrito. There are so many different flavors to love! From the savory carne asada, creamy guacamole, cheese, sour cream, salsa..etc. In just one bite you have about every food group to satisfy your craving. If my body would allow, I would eat a burrito everyday. Im sure the aliens have a higher metabolism than me, and they might just take up that offer once they try one for the first time.

DeleteThe single bite of food that most typifies life on earth would be peanut brittle. I have chosen for the aliens to eat peanut brittle because it is very sweet but can also be hard and rough at the same time. This is like life because although life is mostly sweet, everyone goes through hard times. I also think peanut brittle typifies life because initially it is hard to break apart but once it breaks it starts to crumble. The peanuts in the candy represents the many obstacles you have to overcome in life but you still have this sweet, satisfying after taste that represents pleasing life experiences.

DeleteFirst, I would like to begin off by saying that would suck, and secondly I would tell them to eat pizza. Pizza is like the most advertised food in America. Pizza has always been a go to meal to eat, at whatever time. If you don’t want to cook, you can just call up pizza delivery/service. And on top of that, the pizza has so many different toppings with all types of things. I would tell the aliens pizza is the number one thing. People will buy pizza so quick because it’s the best food to have with wings. Especially for events like parties and whatnot. It’s a go to meal for the super bowl as well. It’s something I think the aliens would enjoy by simply getting the original pepperoni pizza for them. I think that the aliens would love this type of food and will see how much the people enjoy eating pizza. I would be able to save the world because in my honest opinion, pizza is the most common food, besides burgers or chicken. Maybe hot dogs can fall into there too. But it would have to be pizza for me just based off common knowledge. Literally and figuratively speaking pizza is the best and most common food in the world. It’s just something that you can go to at any time. The aliens would realize that food is something that brings us humans together during the hardest times any are going through. They will realize that we are good people and they will not obliterate us to pieces and maybe even want to try and take a lot of pizza with them back to space.
